Argall Signs Pledge to Repeal Death Tax
POTTSVILLE - Dave Argall, Republican nominee for Pennsylvania's 17th District, has signed the Death Tax Re peal Pledge, vowing to the taxpayers that he will fight for limited government and allow the taxpayers to make decisions with their money, rather than redistribute private property, savings and investments of the taxpayers.
"In a time where our country has amassed unprecedented levels of debt due to out of control spending, it is basic common sense to repeal, once and for all, the death tax. For too long, our communities in central and eastern Pennsylvania have struggled to pass small businesses and family farms from generation to generation, and we need to help them keep those jobs in the district. I am signing this pledge to show the citizens of this district that I will fight to keep family-sustaining jobs here," stated Dave Argall.
"In rural communities throughout the five-county region, our farmers are hit hardest with the death tax. Our federal government is making it nearly impossible to pass a farm from one generation to the next. I will lead the fight in Congress to see that we eliminate the agriculture-crushing death tax," continued Argall.
"As hardworking taxpayers are worried about their savings and investments, Congress should be eliminating frivolous taxes, like the death tax, that punish those who have done the right thing of saving and investing. Unfortunately, my opponent, Tim Holden, voted in favor to tax you more if you pass on a family business to a loved one (6/29/97, Roll Call vote #245). If we keep sending the same people to Washington to represent us, we can expect the same results: higher tax and more spending. We should be rewarding those who have played by the rules and been responsible; not continuing to feed the federal government to continue paying for unfunded entitlements," concluded Argall.

Dave Argall pledges fiscal responsibility by signing the Contract from America
HARRISBURG--Dave Argall, Republican candidate for Congress in the 17th District, today signed the Contract from America, promising fiscal responsibility and real, common-sense economic reform in Washington.
"I signed this Contract because I believe in the principles of fiscal responsibility," said Argall. "As your congressman, I promise to bring some sanity to Washington and am committed to stopping the out-of-control spending and outrageously high taxes."
In signing the Contract, Argall pledges to advocate on behalf of individual liberty, limited government, and economic freedom. On the issue of limited government, the Contract states: "The purpose of our government is to exercise only those limited powers that have been relinquished to it by the people, chief among these being the protection of our liberties by administering justice and ensuring our safety from threats arising inside or outside our country's sovereign borders. When our government ventures beyond these functions and attempts to increase its power over the marketplace and the economic decisions of individuals, our liberties are diminished and the probability of corruption, internal strife, economic depression, and poverty increases.
As the economic woes of our country continue, Tim Holden and the Democratic Congress maintain their wasteful ways. Amid uncertain economic times and a record-breaking $13 trillion national debt that is still on the rise, Democrats continue to spend freely when they should be producing a budget resolution to set the nation's finances on the right track.
However, Tim Holden and his Washington friends have not agreed on a budget resolution and are spending money with no plan. With the budget nearly four months past due, the Democratic Congress, with the help of Tim Holden, is simply passing massive spending bills.
For instance, last month, Tim Holden rubber-stamped a $32 billion spending bill that is designed to bailout more failing business. Last year, Tim Holden voted for the $787 Billion Stimulus package, which according to Congressional Budget Office, will cost the taxpayers over $1 Trillion. Tim Holden has also voted for the corporate bailouts, and the bailout of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, plainly demonstrating that his true allegiance lies with Wall Street not Main Street America.
After spending over $1 trillion of taxpayer money on corporate bailouts, failed stimulus plans, and the federal takeover of our healthcare system, liberal Democrats in Washington are at it again. Recently, Tim Holden and his Democratic colleagues began pushing more legislation which, according to the Washington Post, is expected to cost almost $200 billion over the next decade. ("Congress as Usual: There's Election Coming. Time to Spend", Washington Post, 5/25/10).
"By now it is painfully obvious that Tim Holden puts the interests of his party before the interests of his constituents," concluded Argall. "The people of the 17th District can no longer afford Tim Holden. They demand a change in Congress and they deserve a change in Congress."
The items in the Contract from America are:
Protect the Constitution
Reject Cap & Trade
Demand a Balanced Budget
Enact Fundamental Tax Reform
Restore Fiscal Responsibility & Constitutionally Limited Government
End Runaway Government Spending
Defund, Repeal, & Replace Government-run Health Care
Pass an ‘All-of-the-Above” Energy Policy
Stop the Pork
Stop the Tax Hikes
